Wet Felting a Pair of Mittens

Description: Explore the fun and creative way of making your own custom mittens! We will use wool, silks, and other decorative fibers to create a one of a kind pair of mittens for you or as a gift! This technique is done by wet felting. Come join in for some soapy, wooly fun!

Intro to Shetland Lace Knitting

Description:  Students will learn the basics of simple Shetland Lace Knitting. Using fingering wool we will begin to produce a simple lace edge. The principals learned can be used to apply to future projects. Sample knits and history of Shetland wool will be discussed throughout the class.

Supplies Required: Supply list includes Shetland wool and the pattern for an additional $12 fee. Please bring your own 4mm or 4.5mm needles. These can be straight needles approximately 12" or circular needles approximately 24".

Wool Washing and Fibre Prep

Description: So maybe you are new to spinning or have even been spinning for a while and you are ready to tackle some fibre prep on your own! Or you want to buy your own fleece or have been gifted some wool and you are not sure where to start.  Gail is here to help!  She'll go through some of the terms that are important to define, what the steps are and supplies will be included so that you can card and comb your own fibre!

Using Hand Dyed Yarn in Your Projects

Description:  Have you ever looked at a skein of hand dyed yarn and wondered how it might work up? Have you bought a skein of hand dyed yarn and were surprised by how the colors looked when you knit or crocheted with it? 

Several samples of yarn in the skein and worked up in a variety of ways will open up how you look at a skein of yarn!

How to Spin on a Drop Spindle

Description: All students will learn to spin, ply and finish and then you get to keep the spindle and some fibre to continue spinning at home!

Supplies Provided:  Drop Spindle, roving and a small sample of other colors to continue spinning at home as well as your Vendor Hall Pass.
Supplies Required: No other supplies are required and no experience is necessary.

Projects for NICU

Description:   Dina Kidd was inspired to offer this class when she was at a retreat with a nurse who works in the NICU and a mother who was so grateful to get one of these adorable crochet hats for her baby.

The Lacombe Library has generously offered their Kinsmen Room upstairs for this class and the Lacombe Museum will be donating the supplies!  All you need to do is bring your hook and Dina will share the instructions with you and be on hand if you need help!

Please note: Because of everyone's generosity this class is FREE but registration is required to ensure we have enough supplies on hand! 

Be sure to bring your own 3.5mm hook. Also note that all items will be donated.

Introduction to Needle Felting

Description: If you are an avid needle felter or want to learn this adorable project is for you! Louise the Lamb is made from sheeps wool and wool blends and includes the adorable felted scarf!

Overlay Mosaic Crochet

Description: In this class, we will focus on the Overlay Mosaic Crochet technique and discuss the other options.

If you are an adventurous beginner and familiar with chain stitch, slip stitch, single crochet and double crochet – you have all the basics you need for overlay mosaic crochet. We will create a sample to learn how to adjust these stitches for this technique, how to read a chart and written instructions and explore some finishing options!

Amigurumi Tips and Tricks

Description: Amigurumi is so much fun but can be quite challenging. Both crochet and knit amigurumi will be explored as well as the finishing which is so very important! We can inspire each other by sharing our projects as well as our tips and tricks.
