Master Your Stitch: Understanding Knitting Gauge
Description: Is there anything more frustrating than spending forty hours on a sweater only to find out it does not fit! The culprit is almost always gauge.
This course is designed to demystify those tiny squares of fabric and give you the confidence to make garments that fit perfectly every single time. We’ll move past "close enough" and dive into the mechanics of how yarn, needles, and your personal tension work together.

Description: Embroidery can be used as an embellishment on knitted garments or fabric. In this class, we will review materials needed to embroidery your knitting. We will create a design and learn basic embroidery stitches what we will use to decorate our swatch. During the course of our class, students will practice a variety of stitches including Stem Stitch, Chain Stitch, lazy Daisy Stitch, Woven Wheel Stitch, Satin Stitch, Herringbone Stitch and French Knots. Students will complete a 8 x 8” knitted swatch prior to the class that we will use as the basis for our embroidery.

Description: This class will cover steeks, why they might be used, and how they are done. Different methods for reinforcing a steek will be discussed and students will get hands-on practice using the crochet reinforcement. The project for this class is a set of two colourwork coasters, knit in the round prior to class, and then steeked during the class.

Supplies Required: Participants need to bring 3 small swatches along and small items like tapestry needles, scrap yarn, scissors, and removable stitch markers, so that they can practice techniques.

Description: This class will cover how to fix knitting mistakes, including dropped stitches, how to pick up a row below and “frog” your knitting, how to insert a lifeline, and how to “unknit” one stitch at a time. There will be example swatches to explore together, and students will bring a swatch still on the needles to practice different techniques.

Description: Another year, another light. This light is inspired by an online class I took with Fiona Duthie. The light will fit on a led plug in 4" base light. We will use white merino wool and add inclusions that will show up when the light on. The light is made around a resist and glows softly when lit up. The lights are 9” tall by 6 1/2” around over a 4” light. You can go bold or subtle.
