Prairie Fibre Festival Vision

From its inception in 2017, the vision of the festival has been to have a place in Central Alberta where fibre enthusiasts from all walks of life could gather together. We wanted a place where vendors and artists could showcase their expertise, wares and art  and attendees could find new treasures to add to their craft and learn new skills in the fibre art they pursue. We also wanted to have a place to gather to have conversations, make connections and of course, craft together, creating a community of fibre enthusiasts that encourage one another and squeal with delight over various projects, plans and purchases!

This year's festival will not disappoint! With a variety of the best fibre vendors and artists, workshops for all levels and social events like Goldy's Gathering we hope you feel welcome to our flock and that you feel the joy and connection of our community.

Meet the Organizer

Hi, my name is Lori Desrosiers and I facilitate the organization of the festival each year along with a lot of help from the volunteers, vendors and attendees. The festival is my favourite day of the year because I get to meet up with all of you who love the fibre arts as much as I do!  I curate a variety of fibre artists that come and provide us all with knowledge, yummy yarn, spinning and weaving fibre, tools and equipment as well as even art itself!

Recently retired from homeschooling my kids, the festival is now my hobby. It brings all the things I value together, the fibre arts obviously but I also I love to plan and organize and above all have fun! I also value lifelong learning which I think the fibre arts definitely lends itself to that, so many avenues of crafts and so much learning to be had within each strand. The other thing I value is community, I call them my fibre friends and I can’t imagine my life without my flock and my goal is that you find your flock that encourages your fibre dreams and I hope that the festival is a big part of that flock.
